Hyperreality

Governments Propaganda Hyperreality.

The Government doesn’t like what they can’t control. They are scared by things that spread under there noses, they need to have a say in everything we do so they can control every aspect of our lives.

A good example of the Government’s fear of the unknowns is drugs. New street drugs have the government running in circles trying to control it which usual means making them illegal as possible. After Watching a number of documentaries around this subject it becomes massively apparent that the government lie and scare the public into their way of thinking.

The one Case which was highlighted to me as the main case of the propaganda of the Government is with the drug known as MDMA. When MDMA first became big in American in the 1980’s the government became worried of the types of people using the drug. They classed the drug illegal and under the same category as heroin without any evidence or research of the negative effects of the drug. This did not stop the drug the rise of dance music gave contributed an even bigger rise of the users of MDMA in the early 90’s. Another reason it became hugely popular was the talk of the drug been totally safe. The government not been able to take control of the spread and the overwhelming use of the drug despite the illegality, they had to think of a new way to manipulate the population into their way of thinking. In the late 90’s a government lead investigation of the drug  released a campaign to show the population of the negative effects the drug had on a users brain and could even lead to Parkinson disease after “One common does”. This propaganda about the drug was the governments effort to change the reality to the public, it did change peoples and users view on the drug despite them knowing and feeling the reality of it. Thus creating the government’s version of reality, a hyperreality.

We as a community have developed a massive trust in science and what facts are shown to us we start to ignore what is in front of our own eyes. Later scientist challenged the government-funded test and proved them wrong which and basically everything the government had told the public was a massive lie. We live in a massive hyperreality if it is science we turn to for an answer of reality and its now science that can lie to us for the sake of persuading. What do we turn to next for answer when everything we know and hear is hugely corrupt and manufactured for the sake of control.
